Work

Words are a special love of mine.

They form the basis of how we communicate with each other on the verbal or written plane... how we get across our ideas to another and how we frame and language our world. They're only one tool, but they are an important one.

The tone and tenor of a sentence or work can make a difference in the reader or listener accurately receiving the message and understanding and comprehending it. And ultimately, in being able to make use of it. Words are a tool to beguile, to lead, to convince, and to teach. To join or separate.

My personal philosophy is that love is everything. Our greatest gift is to serve another, to lift them up and help them remember the amazing miracle that they are. Words have an ability to remind, to nudge, and to shine light on areas that have been hidden for a while. They also can help each of us help others with a wider reach than we have with our voice. And we can hear and celebrate the commonalities that we share.

It's What I Do

homer in Spain

What I do comes from a deep need within me to serve.

Writing--in all of its forms and for all of its uses--is best undertaken with that frame of reference. If one writes simply to tell his tale or be heard, one misses a great opportunity to add to the world, to reduce the burden of the reader, and to share and celebrate that similarity that we each embody.

In each of the projects I worked on, I kept in mind how I could best serve the needs of my readers. How would this ease their day or make their jobs easier? What is the best form to present this information? How can I make it entertaining and educational while respecting my reader's intelligence and valuing their time?

Over the course of my career, I've had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented people in the industry. They were my teachers, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
